No Trust = Poor Decisions

Great decisions don’t happen in isolation. They’re made by teams that trust one another, share a purpose, and value creativity. Yet, in many organisations, we still celebrate the individual hero – the one who ‘makes the big calls’. The reality? It’s usually a connected, aligned team that drives great decision making rather than one person.

I recently facilitated a workshop for a team that is kicking goals and has tremendous growth opportunities. At the end of the workshop a couple of the execs made comments like “That made us look pretty good, we are on top of things.”

I think they were right as there was an incredible level of trust in the room. A great leader, surrounded by a highly competent exec team in a trustful environment is a recipe for success!

Is this the same with your team? If not, you can enhance trust by investing time in bringing teams together outside of decision-making crunch moments, to create opportunities for people to understand different perspectives and ways of working in advance of the critical decision points.

It’s the quiet work that pays off when the stakes are high.
