Bryan’s Blog: Garnering Organisational Commitment – Becoming a Trusted Adviser

I was asked to speak at a NSW Government Public Sector Risk Management Association forum on June 24th. It gave me the opportunity to explore one of my favourite topics – influencing the C-Suite.

In my view the C-Suite need to understand the end game and the journey before you can begin to influence them. If they don’t get what you are trying to achieve then it just won’t happen for you.

Once they understand where you are going to take them the next challenge is talking their language.

The take away: You need a tool kit of ‘translators’ taking ‘what we know’ and translating it to ‘what they will hear and act on’.
